 San Luis to Guaymas $30/bus Casa de Huespedes Lupita (Calle15 No. 125) between Ave 10 and 12 near bus stations. $10/double. It's possible we could be going through Guaymas and Mazatlan during Carnival, which means finding a place to stay is unlikely....Also plan on looking up my friend Profesor Jesus Roberto Samaniego Cortez, who I met on my last trip and who tends to open doors to many strange adventures. Guaymas to Mazatlan $40 Last time here, I stayed in the heart of Old Mazatlan, at the Hotel del Centro (Canizales and Juarez) between the Mercado and the Cathedral. $10/night or less is typical....I also plan on reexperiencing my favorite Mazatlan meal: The comida corrida (the daily special) at La Fondita (Escoedo and Serdan) a small, family-run restaurant with six tiny tables -- Pollo con Mole, arroz, sopa de pollo, refried beans sprinkled with cheese, hot tortillas and a pepsi -- $1.90....From Mazatlan I went east via the ferry across the Sea of Cortez to La Paz, Baja Sur....All points south of Mazatlan are unfamiliar territories to me. Mazatlan to Guadalajara $45 Hotel Hamilton (Madero 381) $8/double in the Centro Historico. Or, Posada San Pablo (Madero 429) $10 - $13. |
